Dr. Stephanie Spencer

Naturopathic Physician

My name is Dr. Stephanie Spencer, and I am a licensed naturopathic physician practicing in Victoria, BC - specifically at Aurora Health and Wellness in Langford on the West Shore.

People often ask what brought me to naturopathic medicine. Although the journey was long, the answer is simple: it just made sense.

Each of us is unique - and I deeply believe that the approach you take in your health needs to be reflective of that. I wanted to become the kind of health care provider who had the time to listen to your story, to be able to put all of the pieces of your health together based on your genetics, your environment, your hormones, your lifestyle, your mental and emotional state, etc. - to then be able to educate and empower you with options to a path of greater health and wellness. Personalized medicine.

My Background:

I have a strong athletic background. After playing as many sports as I could growing up in the Fraser Valley, I earned a soccer scholarship to Ashford University in Iowa where I played for four years while earning my Bachelor of Science degree in biology. I was fascinated with learning about the human mind and body, and how I could incorporate this into my performance as an athlete.

During this time, I was also introduced to naturopathic medicine. As I researched more about this profession, a spark ignited as I read about the core principles of naturopathic medicine:

After graduating, I spent a year working as a medic in remote locations across Northern BC before travelling throughout Europe for four months. I then came home inspired to start the next four year program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster (one of the only two schools in Canada). Here, we received in depth training in the biomedical sciences, anatomy & physiology, botanical medicine, nutrition, physical medicine, acupuncture/traditional Chinese medicine, clinical diagnosis as well as obtaining two years of clinical experience.

Now, I am living in beautiful Victoria, BC where I am loving seeing patients in a collaborative clinic in the heart of the West Shore. When I am not at the office, you will find me spending time at the ocean, exploring the local flavours of the island and you will always find me reading something new (usually health related).
